Self-belief is your Superpower
Sarah Beale GAICD I’ve had the pleasure of working with the incredible @powerfulsteps Tory Archbold on unlocking my power and moving my business forward. This month @mouve_realestatewas proud to present “Self-belief is your Superpower” with Tory Archbold as our motivational guest speaker.
The idea behind the event was to create an inspiring opportunity for women to come together, rise and thrive. We’re pleased to say that the event was a success and attracted such a high and diverse calibre of women all blazing trails in their prospective careers. The room was a buzz of energy and positivity. Still, using myself as a prime example, we are all too familiar with the highs and lows of businesses, the triumphs and defeats, and the common problems hindering our growth and careers when not addressed.
For many women, career progression often feels like navigating a labyrinth; identifying and overcoming the barriers holding us back is essential for growth. Post-event, I stumbled upon an insightful LinkedIn post from Mojo Crowe that delved into the primary obstacles individuals face in their professional journeys. The statistics presented were both eye-opening and empowering, shedding light on challenges many of us encounter.
The post highlights that a lack of self-confidence is the most prevalent hurdle, accounting for a staggering 41% of responses. This struck a chord with me as it was exactly why we chose to put on this event in Perth. Recognising that we are not alone in this struggle and surrounding ourselves with powerful individuals throughout our journeys is the first step towards empowerment and growth.
Fear of failure, a formidable adversary for many, constituted 16% of the respondents’ concerns. The fear of stumbling on our paths and of not meeting expectations can be paralysing. However, understanding that failure is not a verdict but a stepping stone toward growth is liberating. Embracing failure as a learning opportunity has shifted my perspective, allowing me to approach challenges with resilience rather than trepidation.
Imposter syndrome, affecting 34% of individuals surveyed, is another significant barrier to overcome. The persistent feeling of being a fraud despite evidence of competence can undermine one’s confidence and achievements. Reflecting on this aspect, I’ve learned to celebrate my accomplishments and acknowledge my expertise, combating the insidious voice of self-doubt.
This article illuminated that while the obstacles in our career paths may seem daunting, they are not insurmountable. By recognising and addressing these barriers head-on, we can reclaim our power and chart a course toward success. Empowerment lies in acknowledging our vulnerabilities, embracing our strengths, and forging ahead with resilience and determination, and all of the above is made a whole lot easier when surrounding ourselves with a network of other ambitious women; this, for me, is a key reason for hosting these events.
In the future, on my journey both personally and with the Mouve family, I plan to encourage myself to confront challenges that once seemed impossible. By cultivating self-confidence, embracing failure as a catalyst for growth, and banishing imposter syndrome, I am empowered to navigate my career journey with ongoing resilience.
